NOW, WE MOVE TO THE LAST ELEMENT OF MARKETING MIX WHICH IS PROMOTION MIX.

LEARNING OUTCOMES- At the end of the topic, students will be able to-
1) State the meaning of promotion mix.
2) Explain the meaning of advertising and its features.
3) Understand the meaning and features of personal selling and its features.

Ques 18 What is promotion ? What are the elements of promotion mix ?(3)
Ans-1. It refers to the use of communication with the twin objectives of informing the potential
customers about a product and persuading them to buy it.
2.The elements of promotion mix are Advertising, Personal Selling , Sales Promotion and Public Relations.
3.What combination of these elements is used by a firm to achieve the goals of promotion will
depend upon the factors such as nature of products, nature of the market, the promotions budget and objectives of promotion.

Q.19 What is meant by Advertising? What are the features of advertising?(5)
Ans- Advertising is the most commonly used tool of promotion. The most common modes of
advertising are newspapers, television , magazines and radio .
Advertising refers to any paid form of im personal presentation and promotion of goods, services or ideas by an identified sponsor.
The features of advertising are as follows:
1. Paid form- Advertising is a paid form of communication. The advertiser has to pay to the
advertising media used for the space or time used to communicate the message to the prospective buyers.
2. Impersonality- There is no direct face to face contact between the prospective buyers and the
advertiser. It is the impersonal method of communication.
3. Identified Sponsor- Advertising is undertaken by some identified individual or company who
makes the advertising efforts and bears its cost.

Q.20 What is personal selling? What are the features of personal selling .(3)
Ans- Personal selling involves oral presentation of message in the form of conversation with one or more prospective customers for the purpose of making sales. The companies appont sales persons to contact the prospective buyers and develop product preferences with the aim of making sales.
The features of personal selling are as follows-
1. Personal form- There is a direct face to face contact between the seller and the buyer.
2. Development of Relationship - Personal selling allows the salesperson to develop personal

relationships with the prospective customers ,which may become important in making the sales.
